Today on BoingBoing they talk about a Mexican restaurant in Denver called Casa Bonita. Apparently it was on South Park and Xeni Jardin was surprised that it was real. Not only is it real, but it was there at least 20 years ago because I went to it as a teenager. Not that long ago, I wanted to mention it to someone but couldn’t remember the name of the joint. I haven’t been to the site yet, but my memory of it is that the entrance is in an undistinguished strip mall but that the place is this huge sprawling underground affair, with waterfalls and wandering mariachis. As a nerdy Bible Bowler, it was one of our traditions that when we went to tournaments in Denver, we’d always go to Casa Bonita. That’s a piece of my youth reclaimed from the cybersphere. Nice.
