EGC Clambake Episode for Feb 20, 2005

Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for February 20, 2005.

In this episode, I play the six (?!) IDs that Michael Butler got for me at Wondercon in San Francisco; I play an American Heartbreak song ; I talk a little about Harold Gilchrist’s role in the birth of podcasting and shuffle off to Buffalo. This actually is a fairly short episode for once.

This episode is sponsored in part by the fine folks at iPodderX! Don’t forget, you can fly your EGC flag by buying the stuff package.

  1. Hey Dave, love the Chronicles and have been listening for several months now. I was wondering about a strange behaviour I see with my direct mp3 subscription. I always seem to be delayed by several days. For example my latest client downloaded episode is Feb 15th. Today is the 21st and there are 2 eps up on your site. I see this happen and then I’ll eventually receive a couple of shows in quick sucession when my client (Doppler 2 on a PC) does one of its regular checks. Is this by design to encourage the bittorrent feed?

It doesn’t happen with any of my other dozen or so subscriptions. Any clues?

Keep on sharing your thoughts on the Chronicles, this world needs more discussion and diversity of opinion.

  2. Actually, both of those were published yesterday. I usually publish the MP3 the morning after I publish the bittorrent file, partly to encourage the BT but also to spread out the bandwidth draw a little bit. Usually I don’t have two published in such short succession so it doesn’t seem as weird.

  3. Dave,

After I posted in reply to your news about Hunter S., I signed up for your podcast. Hot damn, that was a fun, fun podcast and I’m looking forward to the next one! I had the pleasure to meet Richard Hatch at GalaxyCon 2, and you are so right — Richard is one cool dude! I was absolutely blown away by the trailer he tours with of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: The Second Coming. Pretty tight. A week or so later, I got a chance to sit in on a Dragon Page interview with Richard…and man, can that guy bust balls!!! *LOL*

But seriously, I loved the music, loved the podcast, and I’m looking forward to the next one! Thanks!

  4. Sincerest apologies…

I thought “title” referred to the title of my website…geez, I can be a bit thick at times. Refer to my above posting as “A Fan Is Born.”

  5. I want to listen, but I can’t stand it any more. I think I’m going to unsubcribe to your ego.

I’m catching up on my podcast right now and I’m about to puke! It seems all your shows are about latley stuff, ipodderx, and updates on who mentoned you on the web and so so music.
