What’s the Spanish Word for Skype?

This time last year, I was taking my Spanish classes in Evanston each Saturday morning, which much as I liked learning it meant the weekend always kicked off in stress and frustration. Somewhere around that time, I had the brainstorm that I should find a Spanish speaking, English learning buddy. My plan was that we’d sit down for a meal or coffee or other libation and just chitchat, in Spanish for half the time and English for the other half. I’d be corrected on the one half, do the correcting on the other. That seemed like a sound plan, but I could never get it organized to find the partner.

It occurs to me that with Skype that could be done more easily. Assuming that we have a good enough connection (this is hard enough without trying to decipher garbled communications), this seems like a good way to go. Is there anyone in Latin America – or Spain for that matter – who wants to improve their English and is willing to suffer through my bad Spanish? Necesito mucha practica – puedes ayudarme?

  1. Sure thing, please do. If you help hook me up with a study partner, that would be awesome.

PS – this post has the first interesting Google Ads I’ve seen on this site in a long time. “Date Sexy Hispanic Singles” indeed!

  2. Dude, which part of “I live in Puerto Rico” upmteen posts ago didn’t you understand? 🙂

My English doesn’t need much correcting per se (I speak garbled in any language, hah hah!) but I’ll screw up on purpose every now and then if it makes you feel better. 🙂

    Let me know!

  3. I have a 512K cable modem connection at home, it was good for Skyping with the blogosphereradio.com guys the other day, and they’re in Edmonton, Canada. Conway, SC and Vega Baja, PR should be much much closer.
