Udell and Wilkins Talk Millions of Books

Blogosphere is abuzz with talk of Jon Udell taking what is essentially Scoble’s old job. As it happens, I spent my drive home listening to Jon’s podcast interview with John Wilkin. I thought this was a really interesting topic – the University of Michigan effort to digitize all 7 million books in its library. There was practical stuff about physically getting the books scanned, rights stuff about various contracts, collaboration stuff. They touched on one of my interests, Project Gutenberg and the related Distributed Proofreaders Project. Good stuff.
