Auckland

After I did the #ServiceNow development workshop for Auckland, @gerwynsamuel made the atypical move of presenting me with gifts! It was completely unexpected. I believe that wine will be preparation juice for #NowForum in London!

Ligature

One side effect of this #DIYBookScanner project is that I am learning waaaay more about OCR, font ligatures and Unicode-> ASCII conversion of these artifacts than I ever intended to know.

DIY Bookscanner OCR Test

I took pictures of a few pages with my actual platen but not the full rig, just to test the software. This is a random page as processed by ScanTailor on OS X then run through the Tesseract OCR. Not bad! #DIYBookscanner

DIY Bookscanner Assembly

I put my #DIYBookscanner together. It became obvious my camera was too far from books so I cut smaller pieces for the upright. Glare was an issue so I’m buying the light to add to the setup. Listed as optional in plans, probably mandatory.
