P2P Insanity

Via BoingBoing (two words that are fixing to become very common on this blog) comes this tidbit, a letter written by Emmett Plant, a musician and the co-inventor of the Ogg Vorbis codec to his Congresscritters asking them to come to their senses over the new “Use P2P, become a felon,” bill. He makes points similar to what I have made here, which is that the Big Media Machine really doesn’t care much about the music per se, and that their assertions that P2P will harm them and not allow them to groom new musicians is horseshit. Quick, name 5 artists groomed by RIAA labels that you have first heard of in the last year and that you give a damn about. No, I can’t do it either.
