Unwired Day

My former employer Intel is hosting something called One Unwired Day today. This is a day where many of the previously for-pay wifi hotspots in Starbucks and the like are thrown open and allowed free access. I’m guessing this is a play to increase awareness of where these hotspots are and prove to people it is cool and useful to use them. I suspect the ultimate realization is going to be that, yes, people do like them but the price structure T-Mobile and others want for them is way too much. $10 a day? $30 a month? Yes it is cool to be able to check email while sipping a latte at Borders. Is it $30/month worth of cool? Not to me.
