Via Die Puny Humans comes this link to an article about open source tools to form and manage online communities. The article is written from the slant of activisim in a cause, but the list is useful in the broader context of any situation where groups need communication and coordination and information dissemination. I’m going to look at phpList a little closer to see if it looks worthy. With the incorporation of eGroups into Yahoo which ruined it, I don’t know of any free general purpose mailing list servers out there. We use Topica to do the WREK mailing list, but only because there ain’t too many games in town anymore and I didn’t feel like setting up and maintaing software on any WREK machines.
