Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for December 19, 2004.

I mention the nut-clacking cold of this weekend in Chicago; I discuss my disappointment in G**gl* ads; I talk about how a cheap USB card reader is revitalizing my outlook on my Zaurus; I play a song by Devil in Miss Jones from the Wakka Chikka Wakka Chikka compilation; I give some of my history with ebooks; I tell how I think Gemstar managed to get dealt a blackjack and still bust the hand in their purchase of Nuvomedia and the Rocket eBook reader; I talk about why I think the eBookwise reader is a good deal; I play a Martinibomb song from the same album; and I tell the anecdote of how John Waters is obsessed with taking Don Knotts to Hollywood functions as his date.

  1. a) You can select urls to not be displayed – I would add the feeds of the adds you don’t like. :o)

    b) Most podcasters are not blogsurfers, they surf your page to find your download link – and therefor are not attracted.

    c) you can set up channels and see where clicks work – as far as I can see, none of the normal blogreaders clicks but many of people jumping in from search engines.

if many of your hits are ‘blogread look for the download link’, you won’t see many clicks. 🙂

call me if you would like some instructions on how to add channels *g*

  2. I’m glad you voiced your opinion on the ads. I’ve seen them on many a blog on the internet. Yet I’ve never heard any feedback positive or negative on the service. In general I’d have to agree the ads the user is being referred…well…suck IMHO.

    Keep up the great podcasts.

  3. RE: reading in the bath…

I’m not a person who subscribes to that theory, as I don’t read in the bath, but I think the difference is, if you drop a book in the bath, you’re out a few bucks, or maybe a bit more if it’s hardback. You drop the PDA, that’s a little bit more of a loss. Neither is good, but I wouldn’t go anywhere near the bath with my PDA!

  4. Thanks for the wink wink info to google ads. I have 30 posts in draft and figure they are going to turn out useless as to $$. My main point of blogging is to get people to realize the value of SBS. M$ has given small business the backoffice functions of a $2million company.

    Thanks for blogging

    SBS Rocks!!!
