Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC jambalaya party for January 6, 2005.
In this episode, I announce that Jill Sobule has given permission to use her music and by gum, I go ahead and do so; I talk about the song I just played and how titular profanity means that it only gets played on podcasts not broadcast radio; I discuss the argument about the term “podcasting” and lay out why I’m not wasting any more time on this; I talk about my George Carlin calendar and how I get weird when left alone in the house; I play another song, an unreleased demo by Jill Sobule; I talk about my new cellphone and DVR and how cool each are; I mention that WNYC’s “On the Media” is now podcasting and talk about Doc Searls and his “Podcasting is not Webcasting” article that says what I’ve been trying to express; I play my very favorite song of Jill Sobule’s body of work and call it a day.

Thanks, Dave, you made my year already, and the party is just starting! It cracked me right up!
And before I forget …
Woo hoo, first post! 😀
Wow. That was eerie. Listening to you talk about what you’re like when your wife is gone reminded me exactly of myself earlier this year when my wife was gone for two weeks. Every single bit of structure went out the window. Lunch as served at 3:30 a.m. daily. Sleep was da Vinici-like.
I enjoy all of your comments — even your rambling. Quite honestly, to hear someone freely verbalize thoughts is refreshing. That’s why I love podcasting, especially the free-form unstructured stuff where you can hear the humanity. Keep up the great show, Dave!
Dave – long time listener, first time commenter ;p
Catching up on some on EvilGenius casts and was so happy to hear Jill on here, I remember first hearing Jill’s song “Good Person Inside” on some free Atlantic sample CD that got shipped with one of my CDNow! orders back in ’95/’96 or so, great song – but I’d never heard of Jill again.
Thanks for bringing her, and her new album to my ears – I think I’m about to go make an order 😉
