EGC Clambake Episode for March 30, 2005

Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for March 30, 2005. Two days from recording to posting, AGAIN, yikes!

I play my goofass iPodderX promo and announce a contest in association with it; I talk more about Michelle Shocked and Make Believe and play a song by Make Believe; I discuss the “badness” of bringing money into podcasting; I rock out to a tune by the Siderunners; I discuss Cameron Reilly and his upcoming show on Podcast Network about depression; I play a song by the Arts and Sciences; I make the first entry in my discussion about the care package of cool stuff I received from Griffin Technologies; later dudes.

This episode is sponsored in part by the fine folks at iPodderX! Don’t forget, you can fly your EGC flag by buying the stuff package.

  1. Dave:

This episode of the EGC Clambake kept me company this evening while I was preparing Delphine’s dinner (yeah, mixing dog chow and canned dog food takes hours in these parts!) and I made a mental note to write a comment here saying how spot on you were about Dave Winer (and others) going on about the commercialisation of podcasting. I’ve been trying to figure out what it was that irked me so whenever I heard such things, and you hit the nail on the head.

Listening further, I realised you also played the CFR promo! Thanks so much for doing that (though I suspect you have an old version–I’ve remixed it since and am about to again. There’ll be a link at the site.) And yes, the similarity between it and your iPodderX promo is uncanny and a true case of great minds thinking alike (hadn’t heard yours before today).

And speaking of great minds: if you listen back to the CFR Good Friday ‘cast you’ll realise that my contribution is mainly silly interjections while Nicholas gives most of the information. He is exceptionally well-informed and I wish I could say he’s a typical Trinidadian, but unfortunately I can’t. On the other hand, while you may “feel” like a dumbass listening to him, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. In my experience your podcasts are always full of well expressed, well considered arguments and excellent info. So this is one situation where you might not want to trust your feelings.

    All the best,’

  2. I’m stoked that Michelle Shocked is letting you use her music on Evil Genius Chronicles. I’m a big fan of her Arkansas Traveller album… it’s one of my all-time faves. 🙂

Damn you, Dave Slusher, for loosening money from my wallet TWICE in the past week! Once, for the Evil Genius Stuff package, and once for all three The Arts and Sciences/ Paul Melancon CDs. Both were terribly worth purchases, but not the week before taxes. 😉

I’m wearin’ my EGC shirt with pride… and the irony is that I don’t really dig wearing logowear at all. 😉
