Boned Again by Audacity

Tonight I recorded and edited the episode with the first part of the Paul Melancon interview. I exported it to the AIFF, listened to it, and big portions of the vocal track .. just … weren’t … there. This is the last straw. I appreciate the program’s existence but my time is just too scarce to keep throwing it away on work that Audacity eats. I think I’ll give them a little donation to the project to thank them for the use I’ve had so far, start shopping for an alternative and get the hell away from this thing as fast as I can.

    Told you so! 🙂

i came to offer words of encouragement, only to find a snarky doug 😉

anyway, sounds like james is suffering from the same audacious fate…

so dave, what are you thinking of instead – and doug (audio guru that you are), what are you using?

  3. I spent about 10 minutes being bedazzled by GoldWave and got scared and went back to Audacity. GoldWave seems incredibly powerful and highly non-intuitive. Audacity is so bare bones (I reckon in my limited experience)that it is easy to understand what is going on.

Especially when it crashes, that is really easy to understand.

  4. So Dave, it seems you are now ready to buy some software to replace Audacity? Let me know if you do and I’ll send $25 your way to help out. Ya know, to “keep you on the air” and make your life a little happier. 🙂 Cheers!

  5. You were warned. 😉

  7. Ditched that software ages ago. It’s inclined to eat everything you feed it, in the process often deleting stuff that may not be easily replaceable.

I switched to MixCast Live, but there are other softwares out there – sadly the nice part of Audacity is that it is easy to drive, the kicker is it’s a hungry monster from hell.

It’s great ribbing Dave over his problems, I do it from time to time. 🙂 But a little suggestion from two podcast greats would be very welcome.

No tips for Doug and Mike from me until they start sharing their secrets. 😀

So dumb ass me is using Audacity to demo stuff – and demo badly – it keeps blue screening me, causing my computer to crash. At time frequently, other times after I’ve had it open for hours. I run very near to nothing on my PC and don’t understand. It seems to be a device installation problem. Any advice.
