Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for July 31, 2005.
I talk about finally listening to the Wired Jesus episode responding to me and how I did a road trip of approximately 8 driving hours without turning on the radio; I talk about and play music from the Butthole Surfers; I point out that the extra money for an iPod Shuffle can be a net gain when you factor in time; more Surfers; I discuss Pedro Almodovar and Talk to Her and the new episode of Systm being too big in the large formats to fit on a CD; one more Butthole Surfers song; I need pictures of your face; goodbye.
Don’t forget, you can fly your EGC flag by buying the stuff package.

I liked that last Butthole Surfers song. That is a unique sound!
Well, you convinced me to finally download iTunes. I see that it is indeed optimized for Apple products which is way anti-competitive… the exact same evil tactics that Apple complains about Microsoft doing. Not that I love Microsoft mind you. They are both just greedy corporations, but someone everyone has the impression that Apple is kind and loves us when all they want is money.
Well Dave,
How can I not like a gu that introduced me to Brad Sucks and plays only butthole surfers on show-way cool big daddy! On the greedy Apple issue-I’m still not in ITunes directory after a month-I’ve been using their products for over 10 years.
TE, I truly have no idea what you are talking about now. On iTunes, that is. I’m with you on that song, though.
BB, I’ve dug the Surfers for forever. I saw via Blogdigger that they were giving away MP3s on their site, I was all over that.
Hi Dave:
I’m a big Almodóvar fan as well. He has released a film since “Hable”–“Bad Education”, with Gael GarcÃa Bernal (of “Y Tu Mama Tambien” and “Motorcycle Diaries” fame). Probably my least favorite of all his films to date, but even not too great Almodóvar is a cut above.
In other news, I’ll probably be attending the Portable Media Expo, so hope to see you there.

I liked hearing the Buttholes. It is a band I always kind of was aware of, but never paid a lot of attention to them. You got me interested. I went to their website and bought two of their CD’s. Hairway and Locust…..I’m looking forward to getting into these guys.
Thanks….

These Buttholes really got a hold on me. The website has a lot of free MP3’s as you pointed out.
Anyway, I’ve refined my position somewhat. Bar-B-Q Pope is the finest song ever written. The greatest bass riff of all time. And one of the finest vocal performances ever recorded.

About God: If my belief in God were dependent on what a lot of other (much more vocal) people said about God, I probably wouldn’t believe in Him either. I find comfort in that whoever God is and whatever He does and whatever He values is not dependent on what others (including myself) think about God – He just is who He is. Hell, Jesus spent most of the time explaining to His followers and the local religious folk how they were letting their own pre-conceived ideas get in the way of the truth.
