Andrew Baron says that Scoble is leaving Podtech. Huh? No one else is saying this, so I wonder where he got that information. I generally agree with the basic points in his points about podcast/videoblog networks needing to focus on content first. As much as I like John Furrier personally, I also can’t name a second Podtech show off the top of my head. Every time I hear of a company like PodTech or Podshow or Odeo getting multi-million dollar investments and going through it, all I can wonder is how they are spending all that money. Isn’t the thing that makes this medium interesting and available to all of us its low cost of production?
Update: Apparently Andrew was basing that off of this thing from Chuck Olsen. If I had realized that this originated in a Twitter message, I might have held off on my post. Not that I think Chuck is lying or anything but it just seems so ephemeral. Of course, wasn’t Chuck also the one who broke the news of Amanda Congdon leaving Rocketboom? He’s the Forrest Gump of bad new media news.
Update 2: In comments Scoble says this is bogus. Chuck and Drew, what are you doing?
I am ABSOLUTELY NOT leaving PodTech. Call me at 425-205-1921 if you want to talk.
OK, Robert. Sorry to have propagated an untruth, so I’ve updated everything and hopefully will serve as a counter-meme. Rock on, dude.
Robert, when you post to Twitter stating that Dave is “full of shit” because of this blog entry, and you lump him in with Andrew, I think you are being unfair. I read Dave’s original, unedited post and actually took away from it that the rumor was not to be believed. He cast doubt on Andrew’s sources and questioned the logic of such a story. So when you complain that people post rumors about you without first contacting you for confirmation because, presumably, you feel you’ve been treated unfairly, well, fair treatment is a reciprocal process.
Danny, I appreciate you having my back but let’s be fair. I was full of shit, and I accept that characterization. I did not pass this along unskeptically, but I probably shouldn’t have posted at all. Like I said in the first update, had I paid more attention to what Drew was basing it on I would not have said anything. That’s my bad, on me, and I apologize to Robert.
My Twitterings are accurate only about half the time.
That’s why I don’t Twitter. I think Twitter is “full of shit.” :p
