Tell her about how important they are for the environment and getting rid of other bugs. Also that not all of them are venomous, I respect spiders. They are cool and vital creatures. I try my best not to kill them unless they are clearly poisonous or there is no other option.
You are being much more serious than I was. It was all about making a Jim Stafford joke. For a former punk and metal head, I know an awful lot about him, Ray Stevens, Mac Davis, Eddie Rabbit, Ronnie Milsap and other lite country stars of the 70s.
We actually gave her a whole lecture on the utility of spiders, and Dave took the one in question outside without hurting it. He’s big on old guy jokes.
