I consider the 3.5 minutes of this song to be a better treatment of this idea than the entirety of Tommy. This might be a minority opinion but it is mine.
May I say that I have no idea what this song is about. I am not a good listener…

I agree, Tommy was meh.
Some may like their narratives lean and tight, some bloated and plodding. Not my job to tell you how to live your life.
I can say that I listen to R&F of Ziggy Stardust frequently, don’t care if I ever hear any song from Tommy again in my life.

I think he was the “nazz”, probably the same term that Todd Rundgren named his group after but I don’t know what that means.
