I'm about as done as I'm going to get with my father-in-law's old computer. I ended up taking out the newly purchased sound card because its drivers crashed Windows 95. Instead, I pulled the old Creative Media card out of my old Linux box (the same one that gave it's network card to the cause) and swapped. That card and drivers worked fine. I configured the sound, set up things for his dialup, downloaded Netscape, Eudora, and Norton Antivirus and generally got things going. Now we can send the damn thing off and be done with it. It's been kind of fun. I'm not nearly as frightened as dealing with hardware as I once was. Between killing WREK's Linux server and then bringing it back to life and doing the same with this box, I'm feeling actually a little self-confident.
