Last week I talked about our neighborhood gathering. It turns out there are photos online. There is a weekly free newspaper that started up last year called The Story from the Westside that focuses specifically on the part of Atlanta I live in. In fact, their offices are walking distance from my house and are part of a complex that includes an antique and bookstore mall as well as an art gallery. Our function was actually in the art gallery, which serves double duty as a really cool reception space. They are trying to have all of this be a kind of focus point for a cultural rebirth in this part of town. It seems to be working thus far. On the Story website are two photos of significance to this blog: one photo of me (far right) and my wife (back to camera) talking to neighbors and another of the food table (my deviled eggs are the round white dish in front of the black haired lady.) The guy on the far left there runs a handyman business and recently fixed our roof and rehanged a droopy gutter. Fun in the neighborhood!

They have a monthly concert thing in that space, Kodac Harrison's Kool Korner, at which Sonia Tetlow played but I was out of town then. It is a cool space and I hope their experiment works. I like the paper and they do make an effort to be of service to the surrounding community.
