One of my favorite books of the last few years, Kelley Eskridge's Solitaire, is out in paperback. Pick it up, it is a fantastic read. She skips all the predictable and sappy choices and consistently goes straight to gut-wrenching. It's a remarkably assured book for a first novel. Dave's highest recommendation.

Of course, Kelley had nothing to do with this, but look at the paperback cover side by side with that of Bruce Sterling's Holy Fire. Wow.
