I just heard Kevin Rose in the most recent TWiT say “Podcast clients need to support Bittorrent.” I guess he doesn’t realize that other than iTunes, almost all of them do. I’ve had the Bittorrent feed for a year and a half now. To this day, my default feed remains Bittorrent. I think really what he needs to say is “people need to use podcatching clients that aren’t iTunes so they can use the Bittorrent support that has been built into this medium from the beginning.”

Feed Migrations
When you have over 150 podcasts in your subscription list, sometimes it can be tricky to notice when you aren’t getting one. Last week, it finally dawned on me that I hadn’t heard an episode of This Week in Tech in quite a while. I checked, and sure enough the feed had changed. I love Leo and his many shows. I’ve been subscribed to TWiT since the first episode but I swear this must be the fourth or fifth time this has happened with the feed.
There have been so many web pages and feeds in the Leosphere that it just leaves me kind of confused. Especially on the servers that you control, can’t you leave a redirect in place please Leo? Feeds that just sort of stop are a drag, and even if you leave a post that says “this feed is changing” users may not see it. I tend to user iPodderX/Transistr in “set it and forget it” mode. I only open the UI when I am changing things, which is when I happened to find that the TWiT feed wasn’t working anymore. Even though my present feed is different than what I started with, there are 304 redirects from every one I’ve ever had to the present one. Do your busy fans a favor and leave us a forwarding address when you move, please.
